Google’s Penguin Update causes uproar for India’s SEO experts!

I just stumbled upon this great bog entry. It tells how loads of Indian so called SEO experts are now out of a job, due to the last algorithm update by Google, called Penguin. Google finally decided to put an end to the wide spread spamming tactics of thousands of Indian ‘Internet Experts’.

The article stated that there would be a big increase in the jobless rate in the Indian computer industry, because of the way Google has started to enforce its rules. This apparently does not only affect the Indian market, but also all the big SEO companies in Europe (including UK) and the USA. They have, as it seems, tried to save costs by outsourcing their work to cheap labour in India, thus becoming more competitive and undercutting the prices of more reputable SEO companies.

I can’t really say I feel sorry for either of them . The Indians tried to break into a market, without bothering to attain the expertise required. The SEO companies in the ‘West’ tried to sell an expensive product, while using cheap, untrained, labour.

I know how much work it is to actually build legitimate links and to optimize Web pages for them to match Google’s criteria. It has been very difficult to explain to customersl lately that we have to charge a higher amount than others. And that link building takes time, more time than the competition is offering. These others have been taking short-cuts and because of that could of course undercut our prices. I hope this will change now. Make the playing field a bit more level.
